melodywhore is a project that is constantly changing like the phases of the moon or the tides in the ocean. the music varies from time to time and while there are plans to actually release a CD, unfortunately due to time and personal constraints, that keeps getting pushed back.

 

 

melodywhore began as melody's a whore back at the beginning of 2000. it started as an extension of the synthdog project and became its own entity. the synthdog project was entirely experimentation with Acid Pro v1.0 and eventually 2.0. Taking existing loops and editing them as well as creating his own loops, james discovered a different way of expressing himself in music. having just sold all of his equipment to fund a cross-country move, this enabled him to continue with music but was quite a change from sequencing. never-the-less, the results proved to be rewarding. the first melodywhore song was called a brief moment which was followed by grace and many others. using stand-alone synth apps on the computer, james was creating melody loops and taking them into sound forge to edit it in different ways, sometimes destructive. each new song helped in the learning process in adapting to using a PC for musical creation. in march of 2005, dawn mescher joined melodywhore as a permanent vocalist. dawn and james have a music history that goes back ten years. they're currently signed on the torched records label. individually, james has worked with a few members of the acidplanet community including paul taylor, gesaba, maite, internal faith relation, temperance, backroom machine, bill jehle, shakz, upon eventual collapse, and a shadow industry. melodywhore has also won two Acidplanet contests, the Better Living Through Circuitry contest and the Tweaker Microsize Boy contest. in 2007, melodywhore is back to just incorporating guests in the line up. and looking to play some live shows in 2007.

the musical style jumps from electronic industrial type grooves to melancholic piano pieces. the minor key is a common occurrance in this project.
