Grand Prize Winner
I thought this one was really refreshing because I loved it's drum & bass and breaksy vibe, it really takes the song to a completely different place! I also loved how the mixer played with the "Joy Joy Joy" phrase... it was a really nice spin on the track. I chose this to win as I can really imagine it working in clubs.
Runners Up
I like the mix of electro, industrial and trance elements, and the beat really drives forward! All my early Temposhark gigs were in London clubs and this one brings back good memories of dancing all night!
This is a completely different style, more House and Electro, and I think it really works well, I can imagine it playing in Ibiza.
Another fun one, I liked the use of cut up vocals.

Blame is accompanied by an animated music video directed by Japanese artist Motomichi Nakamura. Based in New York, Motomichi is best known for his work with Swedish band The Knife for their recent ‘We Share Our Mother’s Health’ video as well as his animation projects with MTV and MTV2. The Blame video was the winner in SXSW Click Film Festival 2008 music video category and will be screened at SXSW Film Festival 2009. (http://sxswclick.com/winners/ ). Temposhark was formed in London by singer/songwriter Rob Diament. Live, Temposhark are slick and sexy with a strong stage presence supported by innovative visuals. There are four of them on stage: Rob Diament (vocalist), Mark Ferguson (bass), Luke Juby (keyboard) and Mathis Richet (drums), accompanied by string players where appropriate. They have a solid UK/US tour history, having played with Goldfrapp, Pete Doherty, Martin Glover (Youth), Guy Sigsworth , Mark Moore (S’Express), Grace Jones, Princess Julia, and Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden) during his summer 2007 US promo tour; playing to sell out shows across America. To increase their profile in the USA, building on the success of both SXSW and the US tour, Temposhark performed a successful gig at The Annex in New York on September 11th 2007 coinciding with Fashion Week in Manhattan, which the band also attended. The success of the US tour resulted in a licensing deal with Defend Music in New York to distribute their debut album in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France and Spain.
They returned to New York in April 2008 with live television performances and gigs in New York, Baltimore and Philadelphia. They have also played SXSW, Homeland Festival, Latitude Festival , TDK Cross Central, BT Digital Festival, and headlined at Popstarz in June 2008, and are in the line up for Sony Ericcson’s Run to the Beat in London in October 2008. For SXSW the band was awarded funding from the 'British Music Abroad' set up by the PRS Foundation, Art Council England and UK Trade and Industry ('British Music Abroad' was set up to nurture emerging British music talent and offers financial support to emerging UK acts who are making waves in the UK and who are ready to make a broader international impact).
Temposhark was the #17 top artist on MySpace in March 2008 and “Favourite Artist” the month before and have more than 770,000 plays to date. Temposhark hit #20 on iTunes’ top 100 electronic albums in March 2008, and has also been featured on the iTunes USA electronic homepage as a staff favorite and on the iTunes UK homepage. iTunes UK put Temposhark in their top 25 bands in the 'Hotly Tipped For 2008' compilation in July 2008.
Influential LA radio station, KCRW, have also shown their full support for Temposhark by regularly spinning several tracks from the band’s debut album The Invisible Line (March 2008). The album has had airplay from regional/student radio shows nationwide in US and in their first week at college radio, Temposhark came in at #16 most added on CMJ, debuted in the Top 200 and broke into the Top 100 in April. UK radio support for the band includes BBC Radio 1 (Annie Nightingale and The Milk Run shows), Kiss 100 FM (Loose Cannons and Rev. Milo Speedwagon shows), BBC Radio 6 (live performance on Tom Robinson's show), Ministry Of Sound Radio (with featured interview), LBC, and XFM.
The band performed songs from their debut album live for The Selector Radio Show in August 2008, as well as an acoustic cover version of Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'. It's up now on YouTube!
Temposhark received 7 out of 10 stars in an NME review of their debut album“…they could be your favorite band”. Other noteworthy publications supporting the album include Sunday Express, Remix Magazine, Guardian Unlimited, Daily Star. FK magazine (front cover), Boyz (front cover), Mojo, Big Shot, Redefine, Remix, URB, and Resonator among others. During its first week of release, the band had prominent placement on iTunes, Zune, MSN, Spinner, Yahoo!, Rhapsody, Napster, Wal-Mart, CNET Music, and InSound. Their single, “Blame” was the “Free Download of the Week” on Wal-mart.com.
The band have released a number of limited edition singles, the first of which was their critically acclaimed EP 'Neon Question Mark'. They collaborated on a duet with singer Imogen Heap (Frou Frou) and received club remixes from electro pioneers including Cursor Miner, Mark Moore (S'Express), Avril (F Communications), Metronomy, Melnyk, Crispin J Glover, Noblesse Oblige (Horse Glue) and hip-hop artists Border Crossing and Akira The Don. A second EP 'Invisible Ink/Little White Lie' followed which attracted many new admirers including acclaimed producer Guy Sigsworth, best know for his work with Madonna, Björk and Britney Spears. Sigsworth went on to produce Temposhark's first nationwide released UK single 'It's Better To Have Loved'. This song features on CD1 of the Ministry of Sound compilation 2CD set 'The Chillout Sessions'.
In August 2005, British style icon Princess Julia joined them on stage at the TDK Cross Central music festival where Temposhark were supporting Grace Jones and Goldfrapp. Her duet on the song 'Paris' has since been made into a popular electro club remix and they performed the track live a further time at Nag Nag Nag for Fischerspooner's after show party in September. DJ Magazine named this track as the most ‘mint track’ on the entire compilation CD Robopop: The Return (rated over the likes of Goldfrapp, Tiga and The Knife).
Temposhark did a remix of virtuoso violinist Sophie Solomon's song 'Holy Devil' taken from her critically acclaimed solo album 'Poison Sweet Madeira' on Decca Records. The track has since been a success in Germany on both radio and at the iTunes German store.
The band has also written two short film soundtracks for fine artist Justine Pearsall. Temposhark count the likes of Bjork, Guy Sigsworth, Placebo and Darren Hayes as fans.
Temposhark have remixed for Camille, Kate Havnevik, M.I.A., HelloGoodbye, Sophie Solomon and Melnyk. Temposhark songs have appeared on fourteen compilation CDs. Their vinyl and CD releases have also been stylishly packaged and this has projected their image as an exciting band of quality.
