About the Contest

In the days of yore, the old west pioneers would dig in for the evening, circling their wagons around the campfire. Popular legend has it this circling tactic was used for defense. In reality, it allowed for the earliest known experiments in the total immersion of music in surround sound. The yodeler parked front and center, a banjo posse to each side, with a percussion ensemble (the syncopated firing of flintlocks) bringing up the rear (channels).

We've come a loooong way, baby. Now you can just grab yourself a trial version of ACID Pro® or Vegas® software, suck down a surround loop sampling from our new Sony Pictures Sound Effects™ Series Vols. 6-10, and circle them wagons with a quick flick of the mouse.

Subtlety won't win you any awards in this one. Remember the first time you sat down in a theater and heard that mosquito on steroids zipping around your head before the brain rattling crash and crinkle at the end? We're looking to have our socks knocked off like that. Can it be music? Sure! Can it be sound effects? Certainly! Just swirl us and dazzle us and make us reach for the Dramamine.
