About the Contest
Says Static-X:"Due to the extremely intense components involved in its operation, we ask that only qualified and skilled listeners attempt usage of said Machine. When performing at peak capacity, Machine will demand full attention of its owners."
Consider yourself warned! Here are components from said Machine - loops from "Black and White." The elements you'll need to make your own thundering remix.
The band expects to hear so many great remixes from their fans that they haven't set a limit on the number of winners. All their favorites will win.
As you start work on your remixes, consider the band's newer, darker, and heavier sound. And the band's new motto to go with their revised sound:
"More evil, less disco!"
About the Artist
Welcome to the (new) Machine.Static-X's latest, "Machine," builds off the power and drive of their debut "Wisconsin Death Trip," and is actually…heavier.
Band members Wayne Static (vocals, guitars, programming), Ken Jay (drums), and Tony Campos (bass, vocals) have molded a blistering sound that straddles the line between human and mechanical. It's a fast, loud blend of technology and raw emotion that simultaneously seduces and pummels the listener.
Wayne Static: "This time, the songs started with loops and samples as opposed to the first album, where every song started with a drum beat. Because there's more going on, it makes the sound a lot thicker."
Founded in the mid-1990s, Static-X has been fusing techno, industrial, and metal into its own unique hybrid. "Push It," "I'm With Stupid," and "Bled For Days" - the singles from "Wisconsin Death Trip" - all were top 40 on rock radio. Static-X have played more than 300 shows worldwide in the last few years, ranging from supporting slots to two separate Ozzfest tours (Main and Second Stages) to headlining on their own.
ACIDplanet and Reprise Records offer up heavy mayhem with loops from "Black and White," the newest single from "Machine." When you need to take a break from remixing, go see Static-X on tour. Get more details at http://www.static-x.com.
