Shannon Hurley Remix Contest
And the winner is…
I was completely overwhelmed with the response I received from the AcidPLANET artists. A big THANK YOU goes out to each and every one of you! You all have won my heart. After hearing 206 versions of " Sunrise " the winning entries have been chosen. I based my decision on professionalism, musicality, and overall vibe. I also was looking for the ones that kept in context to the original version, however different the style of the remix was from the original. Here are the winners:
Grand Prize
Sunrise (daphunk remix) by daphunk - listen
What can I say- this one makes me MOVE! I am a slave to the beat. This song feels cool. I love the professional production and trance style. The pacing of this song is just right- moving from section to section, at the perfect time. Best moment of remix: The breakdown section going back into the hard-hitting beat. Congratulations!

1st Runner Up
Shannon Hurley LatinSaint Style by LatinSaint - listen
A very memorable entry. I had this one stuck in my head for days even after hearing it one time. Best moment of remix: the single line synth lead (completely original melody line) that sounds like it was meant for this song all along. Also, the end section, where “I wanna hold you” “I wanna touch you” sung back to back, is just magical.

2nd Runner Up
Sunrise (faze mix) by Faze - listen
A surprisingly good reggae version. Faze captured a pure and innocent emotion in the arrangement that reflects the vibe of the original version. I especially love the verses on this remix.

3rd Runners Up
Shannon Hurley - Sunrise ( Dima's Mix ) by Dima - listen
Dima’s remix recalls Postal Service with its driving beat and handclaps. Very modern and oh-so- 80’s at the same time!

Morphology Feat. Shannon Hurley by Audio Morphology - listen
Morphology’s remix skillfully floats a string section with a brand new set of harmonies that make this a must-hear. Wait until the chorus comes- you will be in heaven!

Sunrise (Indigo electro-lounge remix) by Indigo V - listen
Indigo V puts an aggressive synth intro to work as the main hook of the song. The re-harmonization under the melody is smooth and slinky.

About the Artist
Recently named one of Rolling Stone’s top 25 artists on MySpace, singer-songwriter Shannon Hurley is making good on their word.Shannon’s full length debut, “Ready to Wake Up”, is receiving airplay on Indie 103.1FM and XM Radio. The album features some heavyweights in the music scene, including Carmen Rizzo, whose programming on the stunning song "Sunrise" makes it a standout track.
"The reason it took so long to release a full length, quite honestly, is because I wanted to wait until I had a good enough collection of songs to make it worth the listener’s while." she says. Her alternative pop style has often been compared to Aimee Mann and Sarah McLachlan, but her songwriting and singing have lifted her to a place that is completely her own.
This Indiana-born musician has been playing music all her life, being brought up in a family of singers. Picking up piano at age 8, she then moved on to trombone. She graduated with a music degree from University of Colorado at Boulder, where she became the stage manager for Fox Theatre, where she met Julian Lennon, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Rufus Wainright, and consequently she became enamored with songwriting. She studied with Patrick Leonard (hit songwriter for Madonna) and moved to Los Angeles is 2001. Shannon is a sought-after session musician and spent 2005 touring with Universal Motown artist Brie Larson. This has given her the opportunity to open for Jesse McCartney, Gwen Stefani, The Black-Eyed Peas, and Gavin DeGraw.
Shannon is currently touring behind her new album. She also plays keyboards for international artist Marina V. In addition to these accomplishments, she is also co-founder for "Don't Call Us Tori!", a showcase for quality women singer-songwriters. These shows are held in L.A. venues such as the Hotel Cafe, the Derby, and Tangier.
Shannon was recently commissioned to write a song for the Getty Center exhibit, the Zuccaro Drawings, in which Frederico Zuccaro depicts the struggle of his artist brother Taddeo. Shannon performed at the Getty alongside Tom Freund, Jim Bianco, Beth Thornley, Priscilla Ahn, and Libbie Schrader.
