About the Contest

Always eager to expose new talent, ACIDplanet.com® presents the Julie Moffitt Remix Contest. Julie's a singer/songwriter and local talent, so she's near and dear to our cyberhearts. Her killer vocals will give y'all much to work with. And, when you get a chance, put down your mouse for a second and request Julie's stuff at your local station.

To prove that you can never get too much of a good thing, we're providing accappellas from four (FOUR!) of Julie's songs for you to work with: "Blue and Green," "Let Him Be," "Slow," and "Try." You can remix individual songs, or megamix as many of the vocal tracks as you'd like into a completely new song.

Listen to:

Blue And Green
Let Him Be
Slow
Try

About the Artist

Julie Moffitt's intimate, musical memoirs expressed through piano, guitar and her warm voice touch on feelings of uncertainty, isolation and mislocation. Her songs range in spirit from melancholy to optimistic, but are always reflective and honest.

Moffitt grew up in a small Midwestern town, but with 6 years of classical vocal training and 8 years of children's theater behind her, she escaped to Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.

Between the endless stretches of desert highway and the rolling Pacific, she committed it all to the haunting lyrics and melodies that imbue her work.

In 2005, Moffitt's self released album everything I never asked for (recorded with Mike Hoffmann - The Verve Pipe, Willy Porter) found its way to Burst Records Creative Director Daniel Holter in July. By August, Moffitt had signed on as a Burst artist.

Moffitt's Burst Records debut, The Stolen EP, enlists the talents of giants Dave Marotta (bass), John Ferraro (drums) and Chris Mosher (keys).

March 2006 marked Moffitt's first appearance at SXSW. She spent the month of June playing from San Francisco to Boston with the Hit & Run Tour, and her single "Try" can currently be heard on radio stations across the country.
