About the Contest

During recent years the American music scene has witnessed a dramatic increase in sales of music with roots in other cultures. Witness the success of labels like Six Degrees, Higher Octave, or, closer to home, the range of world music loop libraries offered by Sony Pictures Digital.

ILONA! has earned prestige on the European stage, garnering awards in internationally acclaimed festivals at Opole, Zielona Gora, Kolobrzeg and Soczi. Throughout her career, ILONA! has performed on numerous stages throughout the world, performing in America, Mongolia, the Caribbean Islands, Russia, Germany, England, Czechoslovakia, Canada and Norway.

ILONA!'s "Heartache" is a synth-driven dance track with enough Euro-disco to keep fans of everyone from Boney M to the Pet Shop Boys happy. This remix event will satisfy all Giorgio Moroder ingénues.

Judges for the contest will be Singer/Songwriter ILONA!, producer Jonathan Todd of SabreMark, Inc., and Arranger Michael Summ of Acoustic Media (Germany).

If you haven't already - check out ILONA!'s loop library, "ILONA! Universal Female Vocal Toolkit." Three full octaves of 'ooh' and 'aah' vocal samples, with long and short durations provided for every note. Then, add the production candy: separate, stereo Lexicon 480 reverb tracks, with multiple decay times for each and every note. Create a conventional mix, or experiment with unique combinations of sung notes and reverbs for startling vocal effects. This special 2CD collection also includes a beautiful assortment of royalty-free diva samples, appropriate for use across a wide range of genres and moods.

About the Artist

ILONA!'s voice is recognized instantly by her admirers. A deep sonorous contralto, punctuated by a control and mastery of three and one half octaves makes her virtually unique in the world of Pop music. Classically trained in the demanding European style, ILONA! was one of the four candidates selected from hundreds of applicants to attend the prestigious Pop Music division of the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. Upon graduation, ILONA! toured the world, playing for royalty, recording over 100 songs and earning prizes in numerous international festivals while representing her native Poland. As a result of her travels, ILONA! nurtured her talent and created a new and identifiable style of music, all her own.

ILONA!'s three-octave range is reminiscent of Cher (if Cher had three octaves). Mix in a little Marianne Faithful, Nico, classic European touches of Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, and you'll have a start on her voice. Her music has influences from the 60's, 70's and 80's blended with a new, different sound closest to New Age. There's an overall moodiness to many selections borne from the "European" soul creating it.
