Flat Atom Remix Contest

Judges' Notes

To quote one of the band members during judging, “(expletive deleted)!!! This is tougher than I thought! There are some really interesting mixes…..”

The winning remix will be included in the remix version of Flux, titled "ACID Re-Flux", which is due for release in fall. They’ll get a copy of that when it’s available, as well as a signed copy of Flux (worth 5’s of cents on EBay! )

We had a lot of fun doing this contest, listening to all the different entries, etc. – there’s a lot of creativity on AP. Thanks for letting us participate.

About the Contest

Local favorites and long time friends and family of ACIDplanet™, industrial anti-pop allstars Flat Atom are offering up "Hump" for remixing. Being master craftsmen with Sony Media Software tools, they've included a few extra gems, such as midi files and drum mapping.

About the Band

There's a new noise in the industrial underground, a new rumble that sets fists pumping, combat boots stomping, and voices chanting. Inspired by the Chicago industrial scene that birthed such acts as Ministry, Sister Machine Gun, and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and such infamous labels as WaxTrax and Invisible/Underground Records, Flat Atom brings a new element to what some see as "the industrial sound". Since 2001 they've been setting audiences aflame with their two EP's "Betwixt Four and Six" and "RS2k5", and now, they aim for nuclear fission with their full-length album, "Flux". Explosive performances on bills with Ministry, Orgy, KMFDM, Beatallica, and Project .44 have helped spread their name, and now they invade the 'net.

Analog and digital, hardware or virtual, music technology and its manipulation is the creative foundation of Flat Atom. From day one, when they met at recording school, vocalist Nick Seward and guitarist/programmer The Thump, have taken advantage of technology to create, manipulate, and present their unique musical vision. "Flux" was recorded is 57 days flat, using nothing but Madison Media Software tools and technology, for $120 (1/3 of what Nirvana spent on "Bleach"). The most impressive thing about Flat Atom isn't their back catalog, the remixes they've done, the acts they've opened for, etc. - it's the fact they've done it all DIY.
