It's that time of year where you paint your canvas white and display it at the local gallery as a high resolution rendition of winter's chill. The days are short (erm... in the northern hemisphere), and the celebrations long and varied.

Grab yourself a copy of ACID® XPress™ software over to the right, Saint Nick a few free loops (8packs, free samples on the Sony Media Software site, Get Media...), and pour yourself a hot cuppa composition.

But wait! As you compose your winter observance, observe these festive confines:

• Original compositions. No remixes or remakes here. From your brain to ours.
• No drumkits. You may mix in percussion as you see fit, but please leave out anything that obviously originates from a typical trap: snare, bass, toms & cymbals.
• No language vocals. You may utilize or omit vocals, but they cannot be of a language recognizable by our (admittedly hermit-like) judges. Oooohs, aaaaahs, gibberish and fantasy language is dandy.
