About the Contest

Steve Oedekerk and O Entertainment are offering you an opportunity to get your original music featured in their newest production, "Dirk Derby, Wonder Jockey."

Dirk Derby is new, a highly stylized animated work from the creators of "Jimmy Neutron." As part of a professional organization of secret triple counter spies, Dirk and his trusty Steed 2000 must fight crime while maintaining his cover as one of the world's most elite jockeys. Dirk Derby is scheduled to begin its television run in Summer 2005.

O Entertainment is specifically seeking a 36-second piece of music to accompany Dirk's transformation into the BoomSuit. When the situation calls for it, Dirk's outfit turns into a giant boombox—the BoomSuit. View the video clip on this page to see the scene that requires scoring.

The music sought for this event should be exciting, driving, big-beat, and fun. It must fit the provided video clip exactly, and be broadcast-ready; that is, the track uploaded to ACIDplanet.com must be 100% complete. Should your entry be chosen, the producers will contact you to request a high-quality wav file of the composition. No additional mastering or production will be permitted—there won't be time.

To enter: download the video clip and accompanying sound effects track, and create your original score for the video, including the sound effects. Then return to this page, click the Upload My Entry link, and upload your completed video plus soundtrack to the ACIDplanet site. Do not edit or manipulate the video.

Need Tools? Try ACID Pro software, the ideal loop-based music composition and production tool for scoring videos. Or, try ACID Music Studio software, our entry level music creation tool that makes it easy to add soundtracks to videos. There are trial versions of both products (ACID Pro Trial / ACID Music Studio Trial) that are fully functional for thirty (30) days. You'll be amazed at what you can do in ACID.

About the Studio

STEVE OEDEKERK has quickly established a multi-faceted career that includes producing, directing, writing, acting, stand-up comedy and animation.

He has written and directed films that have grossed over $1.5 billion in worldwide box office, recently received a best animated film academy award nomination for "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" as well as starring in and directing the wild retro-martial arts comedy "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist." In addition, Oedekerk has appeared in the top comedy clubs in America, starred in and created television specials for NBC, ABC and UPN. In the world of animation, he has created original programming and supports them with groundbreaking technology.

Oedekerk's wide array of projects includes writing "Bruce Almighty," starring Jim Carrey for Universal, the further expansion of the "Jimmy Neutron" franchise for Nickelodeon and Paramount, with a second feature film in the works, as well as 40 episodes of "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron," with over $100 million dollars of sponsor support.

Oedekerk's company, O Entertainment, lead the way with the first IMAX 3D animated film, "Santa vs. the Snowman," released in November, 2002.

Steve's writing credits include some of the most successful movies in recent history. While writing on the Fox series "In Living Color," Oedekerk collaborated with Jim Carrey on the surprise hit comedy "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." When that film became a break-out success, Oedekerk was asked to write and directed its sequel, "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls," which proved to be one of those rare sequels that far surpassed the box office gross of the original.

Following the success of "Ace Ventura" franchise, Oedekerk wrote Universal's "The Nutty Professor," one of the highest-grossing films of 1996. He also wrote, directed and appeared (in a scene-stealing cameo) in Touchstone Pictures' "Nothing To Lose." He then went on to write the box office smash and Golden Globe nominated "Patch Adams" starring Robin Williams. On the small screen, Oedekerk directed, wrote, and starred in his own television special for NBC, produced an animated Christmas special for ABC as well as the original "Thumb Wars" special for UPN.
