About the Contest

"I had some preconceptions about what I wanted to do, going into the album," Boz said, discussing the recording of "Dig." "But, at this point, I couldn't honestly say what they were. With the people that had come together and the musical ideas we were working with, the most important thing was to step back and let it happen."

ACIDplanet presents your opportunity to let it happen with the Boz Scaggs Remix. Put your own spin on "Miss Riddle" using loops cut straight from the multi-track masters. ACIDplanet delivers again with high quality content for serious remixing.

How it's done: if you don't already have ACID, download the free XPress version of ACID. Just click on the TOOLS tab to download ACID XPress, the free ten-track version of ACID, our award-winning loop-based music creation tool. Then download some loops - as many as you need to get started. In ACID, simply click on the sound you want, and paint it into your mix. There's no easier way to create real remixes than with ACID.

Once you've finished your mix, return to this page and click the "Upload My Remix" button. Submit your track and you've entered the contest.

About Boz Scaggs

Dig. Boz Scaggs is back.

The artist that gave us hits like "Lowdown" and "Breakdown Dead Ahead" is releasing his first new collection of original material in over seven years. ACIDplanet is proud to provide the opportunity for you to remix the lead single, "Miss Riddle," from Boz's new disk "Dig."

Boz's career reaches back to his days with the Steve Miller Band. After heading out on his own, Boz released a number of critically acclaimed albums. But it was 1976's "Silk Degrees" that put him over the top. With hits like "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle," "Silk Degrees" owned the radio. Boz released another couple of hits in 1980; "Breakdown Dead Ahead" and "Jo Jo."

Boz spent most of the 80's in retirement, owning and operating Slim's in San Francisco, and limiting his performances to New Year's Eve concerts. In 1988 he released the album "Other Roads." In 1991 he toured with Donald Fagen. "Some Change" was released in 1994, followed by "Come On Home" in 1997.

This year's "Dig" is the culmination of planning, developing material, and assembling a roster of top players. Produced by Danny Kortchmar and David Paich (who collaborated with Boz on "Silk Degrees"), the album's core group of musicians - Kortchmar on guitar (Don Henley, James Taylor), Paich on keyboards (best known for his days in Toto), and Roy Hargrove Jr. on horns (D'Angelo) - are supported by Ray Parker Jr. on guitar, Nathan East on bass, Greg Philliganes on keyboards, Robin DiMaggio on percussion and drums, and backing vocals by Monet.

"Dig" finds Boz exploring new musical realms, while utilizing elements from the full breadth of his career. It's all new Boz, but, from the first chord of "Miss Riddle," it feels familiar. Great new music from a stellar songwriter and artist.

Dig it.
