About the Contest

FiberlineAudio.com's slogan is "The Record Label Re-Invented For The Digital Age." Featuring an eclectic, international roster, Fiberline is seeking a little more of that digital mojo by bringing Aaron Slater to ACIDplanet.com® for remixing. ACIDplanet.com is offering Aaron's wildly popular "Alien to Me" for you to do with as you will. "Alien to Me," via Nick Warren of Way Out West, rocked the house at this year's Winter Music Conference.

About the Band

Born Aaron David Slater in Yeovil, a small town in the south-west of England, his life started during the heat-wave of 1978. As the only child of artist Linda and musician and songwriter Michael, creative genes were well and truly passed down the line.

Michael 'Mutter' Slater had just spent the decade as the front-man in Stackridge - an eccentric cult Bristol band that earned a reputation as the most entertaining live band in England and opened the first Glastonbury Festival.

Even after touring Europe, producing an album with George Martin and sharing the bill at Wembley Stadium with Elton John and The Beach Boys, Mutter left the music business with an empty pocket...and a son.

It didn't take long before Aaron Slater formed a band and in the Autumn of 1997, 'Monicker' produced some rough demos in a farmhouse near Sherborne. Merging bright Britpop melodies with dark synth undertones, several fellow musicians in the area pricked up their ears. A brief mini-tour ensued along with a debut performance at Birmingham University. Support gigs continued throughout the next year, as did far flung solitary jaunts across the country. From Plymouth University to Durham University, many crazy stories emerged of all-night drinking sessions, grown men slow-dancing with chairs, and angry Bristolians with full pints balanced on their heads. The drug-fuelled madness of the tour was realized, but as long as they were away from it all, Monicker didn't have a care in the world. That is until mortgages and fiancés of the band started to care!

Monicker didn't last much longer. Since then, the twenty-something Aaron Slater has spent seven years writing and performing on the acoustic circuit whilst living in London, has flown to Los Angeles to record a demo for Interscope Records and has recently been asked to collaborate on ex-TakeThat singer Mark Owen's next solo album. Being championed by producer Steve Kitch (ex-Omnium, of Ninja Tune), Aaron has continued to develop as a performing songwriter and is ready to launch his own solo career.
