Description

Phil Close, aka PhillyC, is a Percussionist and Composer out of Rochester, NY. He has been playing drums and percussion for 20 years, with more than 10 years of touring experience. Phil has appeared on several independent album releases, and his music has been used in independent films and stage performances. His current works focus on cinematic orchestrations in a dark, horror-esque motif through the use of classical compositions.

Varying according to the mood of the piece, the music ranges from classical/film compositions to country, from funk to rock to Phil's lifelong influence: jazz. His orchestral works have been likened to Danny Elfman and Ennio Morricone.

Instruments: Jap Strat copy, Gremlin shortscale bass, acoustic guitar and mandolin, African kora and Goni Burkina, gyil and balaphon, homemade lap steel and gourd banjo, and an extensive African percussion/Gretsch drum kit setup.
